Everything asked for in the walkthrough with Maintenance and Facilities, and where each one stands. Right now is what is being worked on today. Version 1 is the small changes, built first. Version 2 is the bigger ones.
Two things come ahead of Version 1. Nothing in the app has changed since September 25.
From now on every change is tried on a practice copy of Fixit first, on a real phone, with made up people in it. The crew sees a change only after it has worked there. The copy is made and it matches the real app. Still to do: the steps that carry a change from the copy to the real app, and the one command that rebuilds the copy if it gets broken.
Managers get a CURRENT UPDATES button on their home screen. It opens this page, so the latest list is always one tap away. Director and Admin accounts get the same button when those accounts exist. It is built and tested, and this page now opens for anybody with no sign in. The button goes into the app next.
Built one at a time, in this order. Each one is tried on the practice copy before it goes live.
A request somebody else picks up leaves your list. Yours sit under My Requests, with a count. Open Requests shows only the ones nobody has. A released request comes back.
A small bug button on every screen, for everybody who is signed in. Tap it, say what went wrong or what you wish Fixit did, send. Fixit adds which screen you were on by itself, so there is no screenshot to take. Everybody can read what was sent before and what was done about it. Something broken goes straight to the list. Something new waits for the Director's yes first.
Each row is the photo, the title and when it came in. The "In progress" label goes. Finished requests are tucked away, still one tap off.
No more "4 days ago". Every date and time is written out, Central Time, 24 hour clock.
"Job" becomes "Request" on every screen. The big blue button says MAINT REQUEST.
Names are capitalized for you. The employee number must be exactly 6 digits.
The manager picks it while adding the person: the last 4 of their cell, a PIN Fixit makes up, or one typed in. It works once, then the person chooses their own. "First time here?" goes away.
Narrow the list with a tap, no typing. Includes "Owned by others", so you can see who already has a problem.
This list moves into Fixit, for everybody who is signed in, and stays current: when something is checked off, it is checked off on your phone the next time you open it. Fixit Help moves in too. Both are saved on your phone with the app, so they open with no signal. The Managers' button under Right now is the first step toward this.
Bigger changes. They start once Version 1 is live.
Two new account types above Manager, with the same powers as each other: everything a Manager does, plus setting up locations and making Managers. Admin is the IT account.
Every crew account belongs to Maintenance, EVS, or Health and Safety. Managers and up see all three.
Safety, EVS or Maintenance, set by the crew. The person reporting never has to choose: photo, talk, send. Type of Repair stays, for Maintenance, on the crew side only.
A new request arrives unsorted and shows to all three teams. Whoever opens it first sets the service type. Your list starts on your own team, and the filter shows the others.
The Director adds each location with its address (Warehouse, Temporary, later Permanent), then the key areas inside it where a code will hang.
Made automatically, with the Fixit logo in the middle. Scanning it opens a request with that exact place already filled in and locked. No more "which bathroom?"
As a full page sign or a sheet of labels, with the location and key area printed under each code. Directors, Managers and Viewers can print and reprint.
With a code scanned, nobody picks a place. With no code, there is one plain "Where is it?" box.
Codes are for places only. When a machine needs repair, take a photo of its serial number and add it to the request. That is all Fixit needs, with no extra labels and no list of equipment for somebody to keep up to date.
Their open work moves to the manager, their history stays, and they can be added back.
Find and reopen finished work. Finishing asks what you did, putting on hold asks why.
Pick up, release, call the owner or the reporter from the job.
ADD ACCOUNT, Reset PIN on every row, Enable and Disable, and a code that opens the front door.
