Fixit Help

How to get on Fixit, how to run the crew, and how to update or remove the app. Every picture is the real app. The names in them are made up.

Nobody gets a text message. Fixit never sends anything to your phone. Your cell number is only used as a question it asks you once, to prove you are you.

If Fixit is already on your home screen

Update to the new version

There is no app store and nothing to download. Fixit updates itself the next time it opens with signal. It just needs to be closed and opened once more to switch over.

  1. Stand somewhere with signal or Wi-Fi.
  2. Open Fixit from the icon on your home screen. Leave it open for about 10 seconds.
  3. Close it all the way.
    • iPhone: swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause, then flick Fixit up and off the top.
    • Android: tap the recent apps button (or swipe up and hold), then swipe Fixit away.
  4. Open it again from the icon. You are on the new version.

How to tell it worked: your home screen has a PAST JOBS button. For a manager, the Crew screen opens with a big ADD ACCOUNT button at the top.

Still looks old? Do steps 2 to 4 one more time. If it still looks old after that, remove it and add it again (see Remove the app). You will not need to set up your PIN again.

Your PIN, your jobs, your notes and your photos all stay exactly as they were.

Part 1. Everybody, managers included

Set up your PIN

You need two things: your employee number (it is on your badge) and your cell phone. Your manager has to add you to the crew first.

1. Open Fixit

Go to fixit.deepfrog.app in Safari (iPhone) or Chrome (Android), or scan the QR code your manager holds up.

Tap CREW SIGN IN.

The Fixit front door with two buttons, REPORT A PROBLEM and CREW SIGN IN
The front door

2. Add it to your home screen

On a phone, Fixit asks for this first. Do it now: it is what lets Fixit keep your work safe when there is no signal.

  • iPhone: tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen, then Add.
  • Android: tap Install if Chrome offers it, or the three dots menu, then Add to Home screen.

Then close the browser and open Fixit from the new icon. Do everything below from the icon.

3. First time here

On the sign in screen, tap First time here? Set up your PIN at the bottom.

The sign in screen: employee number, a number pad, and the link First time here? Set up your PIN
Sign in. The link is at the bottom

4. Answer three questions, one at a time

  1. Your employee number. Tap NEXT.
  2. The last 4 digits of your cell phone. Tap NEXT.
  3. Pick a 4 digit PIN and type it twice. Tap SET MY PIN.

You are in. That is the whole thing.

From now on you sign in with your employee number and your PIN, on the number pad. No email, no password, no username.

Using it

Your home screen

  • NEW REQUEST reports a problem you found.
  • MY JOBS shows only the jobs you hold. Tap again to see all of them.
  • PAST JOBS finds finished jobs. You can search by place, words or job number.
  • Below the buttons is every open job. Tap one to open it.

If a red box says This did not go through, tap it. It shows what did not send and why.

Take a job

Open a job and tap PICK UP JOB. It becomes yours, and nobody else can pick it up until you let it go.

Tap the phone icon next to a name to call that person.

Work the job

Tap ACTIONS for the three choices:

  • Finished: say what you did, and add a photo.
  • Put On Hold: say why it has to wait.
  • Release job: let somebody else pick it up.

ADD PHOTO and ADD NOTE stay at the bottom of the screen the whole time. Every note and photo is saved with your name and the time.

Part 2. Managers

Run the crew

Set up your own PIN first, the same way as Part 1, using your own employee number.

Example used on this page: manager Alex Sample, employee number 100001. Your own name and number go where those are.

Your home screen

A manager gets four more buttons: DASHBOARD (the numbers), CREW (accounts and PINs), PEOPLE WHO REPORTED (everybody who used REPORT A PROBLEM) and CURRENT UPDATES (what is being built for Fixit and where each change stands).

CURRENT UPDATES was added on October 13, 2026, so it is not in the picture yet. It sits under PEOPLE WHO REPORTED.

Add somebody

  1. Tap CREW, then ADD ACCOUNT.
  2. Fill in Name, Employee number and Cell Number. All three are required.
  3. Pick the Account Type:
    • Crew: does the work, reports jobs too. Most people.
    • Manager: everything, plus the numbers and this Crew screen.
    • Viewer: reads the queue only, cannot change anything.
  4. Tap CREATE ACCOUNT.

Get the cell number right. The person types the last 4 digits of the number you typed to set up their PIN. A wrong number locks them out until you fix it.

Adding somebody does not set their PIN. They do that themselves with Part 1.

The Account List

Tap Account List to open it. Each person has two buttons:

Key
Reset their PIN.
Green check
Enabled. Tap it to disable the account. It asks first.

Tap a person's name to change their name, their cell number or their Account Type. The employee number cannot be changed once it is their sign in.

Disabled people sit under Disabled Accounts with a red circle. Tap the red circle to turn them back on.

The Account List open, four example people each with a key icon and a green check

Reset somebody's PIN

For a forgotten PIN, Too many tries, or somebody who cannot finish setting up.

  1. Tap the key on their row.
  2. Choose Last 4 of their cell. That is the normal one: they already know it.
  3. Confirm.
  4. Tell them: sign in with the last 4 digits of your own cell number. Fixit then makes them pick a new PIN before they reach their jobs.

Use Type a one time PIN only when the cell number on file is wrong. You type 4 digits, tell them, and they must pick their own the moment they sign in. Every reset is recorded with who did it and when.

Nothing on any job is lost by a reset.

Somebody is out for a while: Disable

Tap the green check on their row, then CONFIRM. They cannot sign in, and everything they did stays. Their open jobs stay with them, so hand those out first.

Turn them back on from Disabled Accounts when they return. Same PIN.

Disable Maria Sample (100002)? They cannot sign in. Accounts keep job history. CONFIRM or CANCEL
Disable asks first

Delete a crew member: Remove from crew

Tap their name, then REMOVE FROM CREW at the bottom of their panel, then CONFIRM.

  • They can no longer sign in, and their phone is signed out.
  • Their open jobs become yours. The sheet tells you how many.
  • Every job they worked stays in the history under their name.
  • They move to Users with the same employee number and cell. Nothing is really deleted, so nothing is lost and nobody gets a second, confusable account.

To bring them back: tap PEOPLE WHO REPORTED on home (or the Users box on the Crew screen), tap their name (marked Former crew), then ADD TO CREW and pick the Account Type. They set a new PIN at Crew Sign In like a new hire.

You cannot remove yourself.

Get somebody onto Fixit fast

Tap the square QR code button at the top right of most screens. Hold your phone up and they point their camera at it. It opens the front door.

Or tap EMAIL THE LINK or COPY THE LINK. Anyone can report a problem without an account.

Changing phones, or starting clean

Remove the app

First, open Fixit with signal and make sure there is no red This did not go through box on your home screen. Anything that has not sent yet lives only on this phone, and deleting the icon deletes it.

iPhone

  1. Press and hold the Fixit icon until a menu appears.
  2. Tap Delete Bookmark, then Delete.

No delete option? Press and hold an empty spot on the home screen until the icons wiggle, then tap the minus on Fixit.

Android

  1. Press and hold the Fixit icon.
  2. Tap Uninstall (on some phones, drag the icon to Uninstall or Remove).

What that does, and what it does not

It takes Fixit off this phone only. Your account, your PIN and every job, note and photo stay on Fixit.

To put it back: do Part 1 steps 1 and 2, then sign in with your employee number and your PIN. You do not set up a PIN again.

Your manager never learns your PIN. They start the reset, you choose the new number.

Two things we already know about

1. With no signal, it can ask for your PIN when you are already signed in. A fix is already in. If it still happens: you are not signed out and your PIN is not wrong. Step somewhere with signal and open Fixit again, then report it (below) so we know.

2. A photo you took offline can look missing when you reopen the job. The job says "Photo needs a connection". It is not lost. It uploads by itself once you have signal, with your name and the time you took it. Do not take the photo a second time.

Tell us what is wrong with the app

Report it in Fixit, the same way you would report a broken door:

  1. Tap REPORT A PROBLEM on the front door, or NEW REQUEST once you are signed in.
  2. In Where is it? choose Somewhere else and type Fixit app.
  3. Say what you were doing and what happened. Add a photo of the screen if you can. A picture of the screen is worth more than a paragraph.

That is what the next fix gets built from.

The Report a problem form: your name, cell number, Where is it?, What is wrong?
Report a problem

The two rules

1

Your PIN is yours. Do not tell anybody, not even your manager. Your name goes on every job you touch, so a shared PIN means the record lies.

2

If it is broken, report it in the app. Not by text, not in the hallway. If it is not in Fixit it did not happen.
